Thename "minimalism" comes from the English. «Minimal art». This stylearose in the United States in the mid-1960s and reflected thesatiety of excess luxury, typical for the way of life of representatives of thehigher and middle class. The philosophy of minimalism is based on theprinciples of combining elements of traditional Japanese culture and the needsof modern civilization, a combination of simplicity and functionality, as wellas natural and high-tech materials.
Themotto of minimalism: "Less is more." The phrase belongs to the Germanarchitect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, who today is deservedly called the founderof minimalism. Mies van der Rohe was ahead of the time, designing "glasshouses". His ideas were picked up by the designer Buckminster Fuller, whose credo was "to do more with less." Describingminimalism we mean laconism, simplicity, accuracy and clarity of composition. The main features of the interior in this style are free and balanced space forliving, a small amount of furniture and accessories, as well as a restrainedcolor scheme based on the game of halftones. The layout of an apartment orhouse is always rational and logical, every meter of the room performs astrictly defined function and includes only the necessary minimum of objects.
